twisted tangled in these sheets, it's hotter than usual outside tonight
piecing together the night we spent outside, weaving our way through the tall grass
clicks of cameras capturing dozens of wasted moments
whispers that he won't do this, and she won't remember
memories like dawn coming to surface at the most inconvenient time
you remind her of a boy that she once knew, but the past stays forgotten
dancing into the daylight, sunshine creeps across windowsills
battling with that feeling in my stomach, waking up to you and a headache
it's funny sometimes how nothing changes, even with the passage of time
the slow turn of calendar pages, the x's across square days and to-do notes
sunrises while we're awake, rising to sunsets because we're young and we can
tip toes through hallways and theaters and alleys
our days of sneaking around are numbered, everybody gets suspicious sometimes
past the aesthetic of it all, beyond the words exchanged and sideways glances
i have to give it to you, you're really something else.
