A rant about not understanding, perhaps about being too naive, too trusting, too easily influenced.  About being a part of the general population that looks no further than their television screen or attempts at humorous news casts with Jewish television hosts.  That's me, the girl who believes what she hears and is so good at spewing propaganda and statistics.  That's you, the college student that believes every word her professor speaks, because she IS involved in higher education for a reason, after all.  Right?  Wrong wrong so wrong.  If there's one thing I've learned in the last four years spent in college it's this: think for yourself.  College is a mindless system meant to pump out workers, teachers, and other drones to the system who proclaim to be 'life long students' and really truly believe that they are getting a 'higher' education at the college of their choosing here in the most PROSPEROUS and BLESSED country in the world - Uhhmerica.

I am so tired of the lame bullshit.  What makes people think that they are any smarter or any more deserving of a job or respect or a decent conversation about politics simply because they are "educated?"  Fact: regurgitating information you read on a powerpoint presentation in a classroom full of 200-something other kids typing furious notes does NOT make you smart.  Fact: having to convince people into believing that you are smart does NOT make you smart.  Fact: assuming you are smart because you borrow thousands of dollars from the government per term to sit in mind numbing lectures and take standardized tests in order to make your government even more money makes you the exact OPPOSITE of smart.

What is this societal bias in this country toward those who opt out of higher education?  We seem to think that simply attending four years of monotonous classes with a homogeneous student base in your general college town somehow qualifies us into better paying jobs, legitimate career opportunities, and acts as the most important qualifier when deciding between multiple candidates.  To top that off, there is then the hierarchy of what university or state school or private institution you attended.  A degree from Oregon State does not equal a degree from Yale, fact.  But why the hell not?  University ranking systems and sports team standings and professor aptitude and standardized testing results and rhetoric and bullshit and blah blah blahhhhh.  I guess to some this rant may sound uneducated and naive, and I don't deny either of those facts, I just simply don't understand the way our society revolves around education and why.

I just want to finish college and get the hell out of here, my head is exploding!
