Closer.
Before this crazy city became what it is now, it lay empty void of pavement, people, trains, and sounds. It knew that we were coming and it paved our way with gold, giving signals to the natives that our story must be told. In this tiny little room that you spend so much time, I wish to be closer to the part of you that's mine. Your smile is growing larger as I watch you spin around, making circles with your feet on this too-cold wooden ground. Afternoons filled with laughter, talk of what we'd like to see. Two beings, separate people, come together finally. Then your face shows desperation as I come to ask you why, wishing I would answer for you but I cannot even try. Pull the curtains, close the window, baby it's too cold tonight. Simply silence won't keep us warm, we'll have to create our own little light. Integrating our ideas into one will make sense soon, as our fingers interlace and the sun becomes the moon. Breathing softly, speaking slowly, words I hardly comprehend. Doesn't matter, never mattered, as long as you will be my friend. So hold on to this moment, relive it for a while, the past will stay right where it is, the future begins with a smile.
